Responsible & Safe Play
Responsible and Safe Play
Playing the lottery can be fun and exciting. The possibility of life changing jackpots, daily wins and instant prizes not only bring out the excitement in our players, it can also bring forth risks for our players. The Illinois Lottery is committed to ensuring that our players are protected from potential risks including gambling addictions and fraud schemes.
We want you to have fun playing our games, but we want you to play responsibly. As part of our commitment to consumer protection, we have implemented a comprehensive Responsible Gaming strategy that is evident throughout all our operations.
Our Responsible Gaming Program focuses on three main areas:
1. Underage Play Prevention
2. Excessive Play Prevention
3. Problem Gambling Support

In addition, we have developed an action plan to achieve Level 4 Certification from one of the most respected lottery associations in the world, the World Lottery Association (WLA) by 2015. Our plan incorporates the framework of WLA certification into Illinois-specific responsible-gaming components to ensure that our responsible gaming strategy is responsive to our players, communities and regulatory bodies served in Illinois. In October 2013, we proudly announced that we received Level 3 Certification from the World Lottery Association based on our high standards of corporate and social responsibility.
